The focus on road safety and particularly tunnel safety has increased the last couple of years due to some large accidents. Example of studies are:
- Tunnel safety
- Risk evaluations of new roads, brigdes and tunnels
- Escape and evacuation evaluations
We have worked on general evacuation for several years. We have participanted in a consortium, with expertice from 7 countires, working with an EU-project titled “Safety Improvement in Road and Rail Tunnels using Advanced ICT and Knowledge Intensive DSS” (SIRTAKI). The intention of this project is to develop a data based system for resolution support related to tunnels. The project especially covers emergency handling, but is not restricted to this.
The contribution from Safetec to this project is expertise according to emergency preparedness planning and evacuation as well as model development.
