Marine Environment

Shipping traffic in general, and in particular with tanker traffic, represents a significant risk for pollution of the marine environment. Detailed knowledge and mapping of shipping traffic in an specific area, in addition to in-depth environmental knowledge, is important for choosing locations and dimensioning emergency preparedness resources, etc. Safetec has been an active participant in several large projects assessing risks related to the marine environment and the risk of large scale oil spills from shipping traffic.

The shipping traffic represents a great risk of polluting the marine environment. Based on the COAST database, Safetec has been involved in several large projects the aim to identify areas highly exposed to environmental risks due to shipping traffic.
